The Music Department at First United Methodist Church of Sachse is Ministry Driven. Everything that is presented to the congregation is designed to enhance their worship experience which leads to a greater spiritual life. All are invited to be members of this wonderful and spirit-filled Music Ministry.
Our chancel choir sings all genres of music, from classical to 21st Century praise. The FUMC Chancel Choir has been invited to sing in Carnegie Hall 2 years in a row. The Chancel choir normally sings at the 10:45 service which features traditional and contemporary music. Their rehearsal is held every Wednesday night in the Sanctuary from 7-8:30 PM. All ages 16+ are invited to be a part of our Chancel Choir.
Our handbell choir provides music in worship at both services and during special seasonal programs. They are scheduled at least one Sunday per month. The Sachse Ringers’ rehearsal is held on Wednesdays in the sanctuary at 5:30 PM. All ages 16+ are invited to be a part of our Handbell Choir.
Led by volunteer Tim Shirey, Crossfire plays arrangements of today’s newest Christian music, hymns, and popular music favorites. The Crossfire Band plays in the 10:45 worship service, and at the annual First UMC Sachse service / picnic in June. Their rehearsals are held in the sanctuary on alternating Tuesdays from 7:00-8:30 PM. All ages 18+ are invited to be a part of Crossfire.
Congregation member Jonathan Reger is the creator and leader of this fine set of musicians. Revelation 21 is usually scheduled on the fifth Sundays of the year. They also play at the Pumpkin Patch service during October, Ash Wednesday, and the first Sunday of Advent. Rev 21 rehearses at our Cornerstone Campus on Sunday afternoons.
Cantata Choir
During the Advent season the Chancel choir presents a Christmas Musical (cantata). A Good Friday Cantata is presented during Holy Week. Members of the congregation are welcome to come and sing during these seasons and do not have to have a reoccurring position in the Chancel Choir.
Soloists, Instrumentalists & Narrators
We encourage all musicians (young and experienced) to come and share their talents with us. Whether you can sing, play an instrument, have a great speaking voice, or would like to be a ‘roadie’ to help set up – all are welcome. We can always find a place for more ‘ministers’.
